Supplier Series: Q's Cakes & Cafe
This week for our Supplier Series, we spoke with owner of Q's Cakes & Café, Raquel David, who both supplies us with amazing gluten-free cookies for our Cookies & Cream ice cream and makes ice cream sandwiches at her location using Four All ice cream!
Raquel and Q's Cakes & Café has been a part of the Uptown Waterloo community since they opened their doors in March of 2016. Their beautiful space across from the Bauer Lofts features a long window bar, a few tables, and a baker's kitchen that's always occupied by a display of yummy treats and new creations being made.
Q's specializes in custom cakes and cupcakes for every occasion. If Raquel had to choose one of her favourite creations so far, she describes a small wedding cake she made for her brother's wedding. The experience of being able to create a cake for her brother and sister-in-law was very special, especially since Raquel made the cake onsite in Hawaii and it was later featured on Hawaii Bride.
Raquel values community partnerships for distributing her sweetness around KW. Currently, she supplies wholesale baked goods to a couple businesses including Settlement Co. A partnership with Four All Ice Cream was a match made in heaven just waiting to happen:
"I am excited about this partnership with Four All because I love how you always source local dairy and ingredients, and change up the flavours with what is seasonally available. I look forward to seeing what new flavours will be available next."
Thinking about future flavours and our collaboration, Raquel suggests that there are so many tasty possibilities including a birthday cake flavour, or a chocolate chip cookie dough which was her childhood favourite.
