#MuralMonday: Steph Boutari
We got to meet up with Steph Boutari this week to check out her newest mural at Torreense Store. The mural was commissioned by Torreense, and is located on the side of their store front - just on the corner of Miill and Stirling in Kitchener. They wanted the piece to reflect their Portuguese market, but also be relatable to the general public - and we think Steph definitely pulled it off!
Steph was able to qualify for an art grant from the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund to make the piece cover the entire side of the building (so awesome), so the mural is super tall and bold. The piece also has fun new shapes and techniques that we’re not used to seeing from Steph, and she was excited to experiment with a new style. There are cute little fish and market fresh goodies sprinkled throughout the composition, and it really embodies the feel of the quaint Portuguese market. We love that this mural is a cool mix of styles, and we’re looking forward to seeing what her future designs will look like!
