#MuralMonday: Nicole Beno
Nicole Beno’s Kitchener Market mural has been an exciting addition to the new DTK public art movement. It was launched this June on Eby Street, right outside of the Kitchener Market. The mural, entitled Market Walk, is full of bold shapes and bright colours. The piece immediately catches your eye, and reminds us of all the beautiful things the market has to offer.
The project was commissioned by the City of Kitchener BIA, and is part of the Shape DTK Initiative. The goal of the piece was to reflect the experience of the Kitchener Market, and to connect the community in new and exciting ways. We’ve already seen that the mural has been a popular Instagram back drop for the public this summer, and we’re excited to see how people will continue to interact with the piece.
You may have also noticed a large abstract mural on the side of our DTK pop-up shop in Carl Zehr Square in June, which was also commissioned by the talented Beno. The piece had a similar abstract and colourful style that Nicole is known for, and was created using a vinyl material (see below). We’re hoping to see the piece return after the broken glass is repaired on our shop!
